Privacy Policy

The short version

Your screenplay is yours. Writing happens in your browser; your drafts are saved to your account so they follow you between devices, and nobody at EvoScript reads them. We collect the minimum needed to run accounts, subscriptions and the registration service — an email address, an author name on registrations, and a payment reference when you subscribe — and nothing else. No advertising, no analytics trackers, no selling of data, no training on your work.

Your script text

• Writing needs an account. Your screenplays are saved to your EvoScript account so they survive a lost or wiped device and open on any other one. They are private to your account: we do not read them, share them, sell them, or use them to train anything.
• Fingerprinting for registration and verification happens in your browser. Registration stores the fingerprint (a one-way SHA-256 code), never the script text. The text of your screenplay cannot be reconstructed from a fingerprint.
• You can always take your work out — every project exports as a file you keep (Fountain, PDF, or the project's own format).

What we store, and why

• Account: your email address — to sign you in with one-time codes.
• Cloud projects: if you save projects to your account, we store those project files so you can open them from any device. They are private to your account and we do not read them.
• Registrations: registration number, script title, author name, email, word count, fingerprint, and timestamp. This record is the product — a dated, verifiable entry in an append-only registry.
• Subscriptions: which plan your account is on and when it renews or expires. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider — EvoScript never sees or stores your card number.

Public verification

Anyone with a registration number or the exact registered file can look up its registry entry (title, author name, date, fingerprint). This is by design — verifiability is what makes a registration worth having. Your email is never shown on verification results.

How long we keep things

• Cloud projects — until you delete them, or until we delete your account on request.
• Registry entries — permanently. A registration is a dated record; deleting records would defeat the purpose of the registry for every writer who relies on it. Account deletion removes your email from account systems but registry entries persist as service records.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask for corrections, and ask for deletion of your account and projects. Write to contact@evoscript.in — this is also our grievance contact. We respond to access and correction requests within 30 days. Deletion requests are actioned within 30 days.

Where data lives

Account and registry data is stored with our cloud database provider (Supabase) in the Asia-Pacific region. During the current demo/beta phase, accounts and registrations may be stored only in your own browser — the app tells you clearly when this is the case.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes and material changes will be noted on this page.
